In order to reduce the amount of email faculty and staff have to read through, the Neag School of Education has consolidated individual emails into a two digests sent once daily at 10 a.m. — one to faculty and staff and another to students. The digest, titled "Neag News," is sent via Soapbox, the same software developed by UITS to run the UConn Daily Digest sent each day at 11 a.m. If there are no announcements scheduled for a particular day's Neag News digest, no email will be sent.
Neag News Rules
There are two rules in place for the daily digest:
- Announcements must be submitted two business days in advance (For example, an announcement you would like broadcast on a Wednesday must be submitted the Monday prior.)
- Announcements can be repeated a maximum of 3 times
Submission Process
Anyone with a NetID can submit to the Neag Daily Digest by visiting the Soapbox site (Soapbox is the software that powers the Daily Digest)
- Go to the Soapbox site at: soapbox.uconn.edu
- Click the blue "Submit Announcement" button
- Sign in with your NetID & password
- Select "Neag School Faculty/Staff News" or “Neag Student News” as your publication
- Choose an upcoming publication date
- Fill in the headline, announcement details or a link to an external announcement, and your contact information
Review Process
Announcement submissions will be reviewed daily by the Neag Office of Communications and placed into one of the following categories:
Neag School Faculty/Staff News Categories:
- Special Category — reserved for urgent messages
- Deadlines and Important Dates — important dates to remember and upcoming deadlines (PTR, timecards, semester deadlines, etc.)
- Schoolwide Announcements — messages applicable to all Neag School faculty and staff
- Scholarly Announcements and Events — scholarly events such as conferences, speakers, colloquia, dissertation defenses
- Meetings — meeting announcements and reminders
- Accolades — announcements about awards, titles, etc.
- Technology and Information Systems — announcements about IT systems
- Assessment, Accountability, and Accreditation — announcements from the Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Accreditation
- Funding, Grants, and Scholarships — opportunities for funding for faculty and/or their students
- Research Classifieds — opportunities to collaborate with other faculty members on research (Fridays)
- In the News — Neag faculty, staff, students, and projects featured in the news
- Professional Development & Training — announcements about professional development opportunities
- Dean's Office — announcements specifically for Dean's Office faculty & staff
- Dept. of Curriculum and Instruction — announcements specifically for EDCI faculty and staff
- Dept. of Educational Leadership — announcements specifically for EDLR faculty and staff
